Skipper - George L. Appleby
Photos by Jack Appleby S-32 Power
The photos are those of Jack Appleby. His father, George L. Appleby, rebuilt 'Trincomalee' after the initial launch in 1968 in Chemainus, BC. An interesting footnote is that Mr. Appleby Sr. , well before the days of the Aux. Coast Guard found it's roots, would take care of the emergencies that would arise on the water. First, through the Volunteer Marine Rescue. Later, he was with the Provincial Emergency Program (PEP) that at least repaid him for his fuel costs. Finally, he operated through the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Needless to say, "Trincomalee" was a welcome sight on many occasions and was, and is to this day, fondly regarded by the locals as is her skipper, Mr. George L. Appleby.
