Thanks to all who participated

I would like to thank the participants of this years Spencer gathering. "What we lacked in numbers, we made up for in enthusiasm."

A special thank you to Bud & Theresa Harbidge for bringing their beautiful little Spencer 31 "Moody Blue." Thank you to Alan Smith (S/V Seawyf) for driving down. Thanks to Capatin Rod, Terrilynn, Russ & Sandy) crew of Free Spirit (a Spencer 53) for stopping by on their way up to Canadian cruising waters. And a special shout-out to McMike & Lowell for being here in spirit and participating in the rendezvous by long distance phone calls.

I hope that others will be encouraged to step forward and sponsor these gatherings going forward, perhaps even regionally. The don't have to be big extravagant affairs with lots of plans and activities. This gathering proves that small gatherings can be both interesting and fun, and the opportunity for form new friendships is always there.

Thanks again to everyone!

Larry,

Thanks so much for hosting the 2011 Spencer Rendezvous and making our time there enjoyable. Theresa and I enjoyed the Eagle Harbor area and Winslow. Thanks to Alan for coming down from Nanaimo BC and Merry for doing dinner duty.

We arrived home safe and sound last Saturday after spending three weeks in the Puget Sound area. Most enjoyable.

Bud and Theresa Harbidge.

Thanks for the phone call! It was a treat to hear everybody and know that we can pull together, even across the continent. I have a copy of S-35 Bulletin #1, dated 1964, which stresses that an association would be productive in a couple ways. First, so that owners "will be able to to keep informed of the activities of other boats, " and that an association "will also help to maintain and improve the re-sale value of the boats." There is no telling how many of these beautiful vessels have been lost over the years, but it's good to know that the SYOG is coming together to celebrate and preserve these wonderful boats!
