The
Spencer 35 was the most popular of the Spencer series.
It's
offshore ability, design and toughness and affordable made if very
popular for Cruisers.
Later, it received some modifications and became the
S-35mkII.
The "Plug" for the Spencer 35 Hull was converted
into a vessel and ended up in Guam.
The Spencer 35 'Plug' became a completed vessel and ended up sailing to Guam where it remained.

I am the third owner. I believe the original owner was Harold Boyt? The original name of the vessel was Black Hawk but the Fury's renamed her Black Fury. She has diesel and alcohol stoves and was a liveaboard for five years. I have completely gone through the bottom doing many epoxy blister repairs and then putting a barrier coat on her. I re-powered from the original Grey Sea Scout to the Yanmar in 2000.

Ken reports that he purchased Scalded Dog in 2000. He has installed an aluminum toe rail, freedom 10 inverter, Alder Barber Refer and an aluminum boom. I asked him how he got the name - Scalded Name. It seems when he bought his Spencer that no name was written on it. It was officially listed as Pjarra Bianca on the paper work. On one occasion he was sailing with a friend and they got into light airs. The friend remarked about how long it would take to get home. Ken replied, "you watch, the wind will come up about the time we leave and will be going like a scalded dog". Sure enough, the wind came up on the leg home and they had a very quick sail. The friend commented, "Well, I guess you found a name for your boat".
