Mystic
The photo on the left was taken in Glacier Bay
Victoria, BC
When Mark and Alex contacted us they indicated that as far as they can tell the vessel was a hull and deck kit, built by Spencer Boats and home finished in West Vancouver. The commissioning plate in the cockpit reads 1968. (This would be the manufacturing date on the hull - that is how we know it is Hull 6) Mark and Alex purchased Mystic (changed name from Pegasus) in 1993. A lot of work was done. By the sounds of it they jacked up the anchor light and slid a new Spencer underneath. Actually, they replaced all systems 100% such as wiring, plumbing, running and standing rigging, etc. etc. Some of the items they added are a high output alternator with smart regulator, Nova Cool fridge and freezer (in place of the old port side quarter birth). New engine beds hold a new (used) Farryman 24HP Diesel. The fuel tank in the keel has always been used for additional water and I have installed a stainless fuel tank under the centre of the cockpit. The entire cabin is insulated with closed cell foam (3/8" on hull sides and 1" overhead). I have yet to install a headliner, but the look of the white foam sort of grows on you after a few years. The cabin was pretty much "gutted" of it's 20 plus year old upholstery (there was green carpet glued to the inside of the hull), old arborite, etc. and updated.
Sails:
Full Battened L&M Main
130 Genny on Hood furler
Asymetrical chute with snufferIn 1996 they sailed Mystic as far up as Glacier Bay, Alaska.
Inspite of the rain it was an amazing trip and the reports are that the Spencer did just fine.

The cabin is slightly narrow and longer than standard. There is a bridge deck at the front of the cockpit and the lazarette is shorter and raised to deck level. The cockpit combing and toerails are teak. The rudder is skeg mounted and moved 12" aft of the stock position. The rudder looks like a small version of the 51 and 1330 designs. The interior layout is standard.
